About two months ago I read a couple of articles about a web browser that was supposed to be the “next big thing”. I did a little research on the Brave web browser and decided to try it in place of the Chrome browser I had been using for many years now.
Looking back on my browser use since I started working with and having fun on the internet, I have used most of the popular browsers at one time or another. Mosaic, several of the Internet Explorer versions (Lord help me) to Netscape Navigator, Opera, Firefox and some I cannot remember. They all follow the same path. They come on at first…easy to use and fast. Then they add features and tracking for their own use and the become bandwidth hogs. Slow….insecure…harder to use.
I downloaded the install file from https://brave.com/ after reading a little more on their website and installed it on my laptop. I opened it up….and I haven’t opened Chrome since. I love it, and it is fast, fast. If you currently use Chrome there will be almost a zero learning curve. Here are some of the claims they make and I cannot doubt any of them.
- Three times faster than Chrome
- Better privacy by default than Firefox
- Uses 35% less battery on mobile.
Even for semi power users all of the most used Chrome extensions and plugins exist and work well. I wanted to wait till I had some experience on the tool before I recommended it. I am at that point now.
Try it…I think you’ll like it.
